My Favourite Film

Amodini Pawar, Std. VIII

Films are made to entertain the public. Some have an educational purpose and some give us information on wild life, people and their culture.

My favourite film is 'The Parent Trap', it tells us about a pair of twins whose parents are separated. These twins happen to meet during a summer camp. Unfortunately, they start off by hating each other.

The Principal gets fed up of them and sends them to a lonely house in a deserted forest. There they accidentally find the two parts of a torn photograph of their parents. Each sister has a piece and they put the pieces together to form a complete photograph. Soon, they realize they are sisters! Each twin is eager to see the other parent whom they have always missed. So, they plan to exchange places and go to the other parent. The mother stays in London and the father in America.

The story turns funny when each of them hides the truth from both the father and the mother. The father is about to marry again and the twin wants to stop him from doing so. The twin with the mother decides to go on a holiday and calls the twin sister and father there. The parents realize the truth and finally decide to get married.

I like the story as it shows us how innocent children are affected by the separation of their parents. It also expresses the longing a child may feel for the parent not around.

Films influence us very much. So we should be careful about the types of films we watch.
