Message from the principal

It is a ceaseless effort of every one at New Era to guide and nurture our students to achieve academic as well as moral excellence. At New Era, we help our children to acquire the skills, the attitudes and the dispositions that will not only help them live well but also make them useful citizens of the world. Our endeavor is to make every student smart and good. Therefore, we have adopted a curriculum for value education designed to develop the capabilities of young individuals.

New Era has devised an approach based on the concept of developing capabilities i.e. the capacity in young individuals to achieve a balance between rational and emotional, between humanism and science, between personal liberty and social obligation and most of all between the struggle to become a master of the nature and to live in harmony with it. To achieve such a balance one should reach the qualities of soul that are the foundation of human character. Then it is imperative that we should develop the spiritual qualities such as Justice, Love, Generosity, Compassion, Humility and Truthfulness in their right perspective. But we are also cautious that spirituality does not turn into self righteousness and fanaticism.

The students are trained to reflect upon what they learned and to direct it to meaningful actions. Therefore, we understand that a teacher´s role is to present the concepts without lecturing, to facilitate discussions and to act as an assistant and coordinator. The teacher becomes the source of encouragement and inspiration and a bridge between the school and the society.

In-service training on value education and new teaching methods is a regular feature in Primary as well as Secondary Departments of the School.

An effective and useful infrastructure is an essential feature of a good school. We have been regularly upgrading facilities in classrooms, dormitories, playgrounds, Health Centre and staff quarters. We have plans to construct a Science and Technology block which would accelerate the teaching and learning process to a higher level.

Last year we had the pleasure to see the success of the film Tare Zameen Par , a film which depicted similar values for which New Era always stands for. The School gave whole hearted support to the project as we wanted such a noble message to reach far and wide through a popular medium. We are happy that the film has changed the attitude of parents and teachers towards the children. This film is a wonderful and beautiful gift to the parents, teachers and children of the world.

Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents, teachers and our much loved students for their enthusiastic support in having made the past year a great success. I hope our efforts and achievements in the New Year would be more satisfying and inspiring.
