My Mother's "helping heart" |
My mother really knows me,
My mother really cares
I am in her fondest thought
And in her prayers.
She loves me very dearly.
As she has right from the start,
And she is the one I turn to
when I need a “helping heart” |

My Mother's Love |
When I was in my mother's womb
I could see through her eyes.
After I was born, and I could not understand something,
She made me understand it with love
When I would be happy I could see
the joy in her eyes.
Whenever I needed her she was always
there beside me.
Whenever I was in pain, She always
comforted me.
Whatever time we spent together, in pain or
in comfort , happy or sad, we loved each other
a lot.
Nobody can break this bond of love between a
mother and her daughter. |

Educating the Girl Child |
| The deity of learning, according to Hindu mythology, is Goddess Saraswati but there are a number of cases where women were forbidden to receive education. In the early Vedic age, the families were patrilineal and the birth of sons was looked forward to. But daughters born into a family were taken care of and their education was never neglected. The girls of only the upper classes enjoyed the privilege of getting education. In the nineteenth century Raja Ram Mohan Roy worked for the emancipation of women by giving them education. |
| In India at present, the statistics of the female literacy rate are dismal. The overall literacy rate increased from 18.3 % in 1951 to 65.38% in 2001, where the female literacy rate accounted for 54.16%. The percentage of girls enrolled at the primary level of education is slightly more than that of those enrolled at the upper primary level. |
| There is discrimination in the upbringing of a girl and boy in the Indian family system. Parents feel that educating the girl child is a waste of money because she has to remain within the confines of her home. Boys, on the other hand, are educated because they are deemed to provide for their family and support their parents. Socioeconomic problems of drug addiction and consumption of alcohol in the family lead to constraints which result in the large number of female dropouts in the upper primary level. |
| The prevalence of illiteracy has hampered the development of the country in a big way. The efforts of the government to educate the masses have gone in vain. Kerala is the only state which has achieved the female literacy rate of above 90%. |
This has removed many social evils. The menace of child labour has significantly been out of practice because the masses have became aware of their rights. |
| Unfortunately child marriage, child labour and high population growth accompanied by high mortality rate are the results of illiteracy among women. |
| It has been rightly said, “If you educate a man you educate a person, but if you educate a women you educate a family.” Marriage at a young age, followed by a number of children leads to maternal mortality and weak children. Being uneducated herself, the mother is unable to teach her children and they take to wrong ways. |
| Education of the girl child would mean the emancipation of women and the social development of the nation. |

From Five to Nine |
We get up in the morning at five.
And go for morning jogging.
We then go to class and see the bee hive.
And at 8 for hogging.
And then at nine starts the class,
After the attendance is done.
And we learn the Physics of mass.
And then, the sleep starts to come.
Chemistry often talks of atomicity.
Whereas the talks of Bio teach us Diversity
Then the bell goes for break.
When we get to eat biscuits and cake.
Second language gets us divided into four.
And we come back with eyes that are sore.
Then away we go for classes three.
After which we are free.
The Geography teacher often gets a map.
History makes us take a nap.
Then comes the time for Mathematics.
Which teaches us all the tactics.
English is all about repetition.
And during exams its all about competition.
Then the time comes for lunch.
When we have nice food to munch.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we have moral education.
And on Friday and Saturday we have to go for vocation.
Then we have our tucks and canteens
That's the time when monkeys bully us teens.
After which the whistle blows.
And then we start our kicks and throws.
Then its time to wash ourselves.
When people hear the ding dong of the bell.
Then we go for dinner at seven.
Where we get pizzas backed in the oven.
Then we have another hour for studies.
After which the lights go off.
We say goodnight to our buddies
And finally we doze off. |

Lucky Us |
| Who would ever have a rare- to- see Paradise Fly Catcher outside their classroom window, or even a bee hive? It's a beautiful view to see once you wake up in the morning. A breath of fresh air here would be a different breath in a city. |
| Spending our school life in New Era is paradise. It's green everywhere which is good, for a teacher said, “Green is good for your eyesight”. Which school would ever have their amphitheater facing a valley, a river and mountains with very unusually shaped boulders on it? Which other school has walks to the edge of the waterfall or hikes to the adjacent mountain fort? |
| Unlike the city, the little road next to our school is quiet (except on exeat days), it is less polluted and there is almost no honking of cars. The climate is usually cool and there is always a fresh breeze blowing over Panchgani. The night sky is full of stars, and sometimes the milky way is seen flowing through the heavens. |
| Students and residents of New Era should realise that they are extremely fortunate to have an environment full of wildlife and beauty. So I can only say “Lucky Us !” |

Teachers Are Important |
| My teachers are most important in my life. They are the ones who selflessly care about us and build us to become a better 'youth'. In ancient times teachers were known as 'Gurus'. 'Guru' is almost God. |
| We are supposed to respect our teachers as much as 'God' and 'Parents'. If teachers are not there in this world, we would be nothing in this beautiful world. They are the ones who give us knowledge. |
| If we forget that teachers are precious to us then God will not forgive us. Teachers guide youth to walk on the right path. |

Book |
| Books play a very important role in our life. Books are like precious gems which should be kept safely. Books should be highly respected and loved, because they give us knowledge. |
| We all need knowledge because without knowledge we lack something. Knowledge is a wealth which no one can steal. Books give us different kinds of information. Some books tell us about sports some about science, history and geography. |
| Nowadays people do not respect books. They tear pages from books, which is not good. We should not waste paper as paper is made from trees and if we tear paper then we are harming the environment. |
| Some people spin the books. We can also see people throwing their books after exams. Instead they can recycle them or give them to poor children who cannot afford to buy them. In this way we can save our trees and not harm the environment. We all should love and respect books. |
