NEW ERA WEATHER STATION

Being in touch with the environment

A weather station inside the school campus is another exceptional attempt by New Era High School to make learning more interesting and fruitful. A weather station helps to broaden the perception of the students about environmental science. It improves their understanding of various subjects like Geography, Physics and Math. The Faculty of Social Science initiated the idea of having school's own weather station where daily weather readings can be taken by the students under the supervision of the teachers. With the encouragement and support from our Principal, Dr. Mehrassa, the weather station was set up near the Amreliwala dormitory.

We have the following instruments:

Maximum Thermometer, which records the highest temperature of the day

Minimum Thermometer, which records the lowest temperature of the day

Dry and wet bulb thermometers, the difference between the two readings tells how humid the air is.

Rain Gauge to measure the daily rainfall.

Anemometer to measure the wind speed and the weather cock to see the direction of the wind.

The instruments were supplied by the Meteorological Department of India, Pune.

Daily reading is taken at 8.30 am and is displayed at several places. The data register is maintained to study the weather pattern of the year.
